« Space researches of Terrestrial resources » it is created in 1989. A scientific direction of laboratory - space researches of minerals. The laboratory carries out a scientific theme «Forecasting of terrestrial resources of Azerbaijan with application of space, geological-geophysical, geomorphological and geochemical methods » under the research program «Geological researches from space». During the short period by employees of laboratory it is decoded aero-and space pictures of Azerbaijan, are revealed new ring and linear structures and is predicted new perspective zones in units of crossing of these structures.

The laboratory together with department of economic minerals in 1992, 1998, 2000, 2002 spent scientific conferences on a theme « Economic minerals of Azerbaijan, forecasting of perspective sites and new methods of researches ». Materials of conference are published.

As a result of the lead research work, employees of laboratory in 2000 prepare « Cosmotectonic map of Nakhchyvan», (authors V.M.Baba-zadeh, A.A.Masimov, D.M.Akhmedov, A.A.Khalfli, N.A.Imamverdiyev, M.I.Mansurov) scale 1 : 500 000 and is included in the atlas «Mineral resources and ecology of Nakhchyvan», the Autonomous Republic Nakhchyvan devoted to the 75 anniversary.

It is necessary to note, that for the first time in space of the Union of the Independent States under the research program « Geological researches from space » employees of laboratory under edition of the head of laboratory prof. Baba-zadeh V.М. are made maps in scale 1 : 600 000: «Cosmotectonic map of Azerbaijan» (authors V.M.Baba-zadeh, A.Sh.Mehdiyev, A.M.Pashayev, G.Sh.Mamedov, A.A.Masimov, D.M.Akhmedov, N.A.Imamverdiyev) (2007) and «The Azerbaijan regional fractionation map with deposits prognosis of ore mineral resources» (authors V.M.Baba-zadeh, A.Sh.Mehdiyev, A.M.Pashayev, G.Sh.Mamedov, A.A.Masimov, D.M.Akhmedov, N.A.Imamverdiyev, Z.I.Mamedov) (2008) and are published. Ring and linear structures of various geneses are reflected in cards geodynamic, paleogeografical and paleostructure features of a condition of formation structurally-formations zones. On the basis of regional crack and other factors perspective sites on categories are revealed. By preparation of maps their separate parts are discussed in various conferences, symposiums and published in periodicals journals.

Breadboard model Cosmotectonic map are discussed in Institute of Geology, in Presidium National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan and per 1994 is included in the list of the Major researches.

The laboratory continues to lead research works in this direction and employees of laboratory spend the local forecast of ore minerals.
