The department of Seismology and the physics of the Earth

The department of «Seismology and the physics of the Earth» is created in 2001 at Geological faculty, BSU for the purpose of preparation of experts in the field of seismology and realisation in this direction of scientific researches.
From the date of creation the chief of the department was acting associate professor Adil I. Xasayev. Since 2005 the chief of the department has been acting associate professor Ali G.Novruzov.
Now acting associate professor A.G.Novruzov (the chief of the department), professor A.A.Khalafli, acting associate professor A.L.Mammadov, acting associate professor T.M.Musazade work at the department.
Subjects in the direction of "Seismology", «Physicists of the Earth», "Geodynamics", "Paleomagnetizma" and «Prospecting geophysics» are taught at the department.
On specialities "Geophysics" and "Seismology" at level of the bachelor and the master are prepared experts.
Scientific activity of the faculty is devoted research of physical and chemical aspects deepfocal seismicity and research of the electromagnetic anomalies observed in preparation of earthquakes.
The received scientific results are presented at various conferences of the international and republican value.
Employees of chair publish about 100 scientific works, manuals and textbooks.
Now prepared together with Institute of Geophysics and Metereology of the Cologne University of Germany, Geophysical scientific research institute of Azerbaijan, with Institute of Electromagnetic methods of the St.-Petersburg University of the Russian Federation, the Athenian University of Greece, two grant project in a direction of applied geophysics are presented to corresponding structures of the Council of Europe.
Scientific and technical communication with Institute of Physics of the earth NAN of the Russian Federation is carried out.
